SCHOLARSHIPS
Each year, cheerleaders in their second year on the team are eligible for the Dr. Allen Scholl Scholarship ($1400.00). The scholarship is only awarded to current team members.
The Dr. Allen Scholl scholarship has awarded over $1,500,000 in the past 24 years.
RESPONSIBILITIES
If chosen for the team, cheerleaders are required to fulfill their responsibilities as a representative for the Penn State University. Mandatory practice begins in early August. The season is complete by the 3rd week of April. Cheerleaders must be willing to possibly give up their Fall, Spring, Winter and Holiday breaks to cover events scheduled by the coaching staff. Cheerleaders may also be asked to miss class to cover events. University excuses will be given for any missed class. Classes missed for cheerleading responsibilities rarely occur.

Congratulations to our Nittany Lion mascot for being one of the Top 10 mascots in the Country. The Nittany Lion attended the 2022 UCA Mascot National Championship. Only the Top 10 mascot entries qualify.
The Penn State cheerleading Team will be participating in THON 2022. Funds raised from THON support the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer. In 2021 Penn State Cheerleading was 6th overall in fundraising for independent organizations. Dancing for PENN STATE Cheerleading in 2022 are Rory Coughlin, Veronica Echeverri, Caitlyn Harms, and Jules Vulcano. Visit THON.org for more information about THON.
