The Penn State Field Hockey Complex became just one of the latest new additions to Penn State's ever-growing "athletic campus" on the Northeast end of campus

A true reflection of Penn State's commitment to women's athletics was on display when Penn State opened the Penn State Field Hockey Complex at the beginning of the 2005 season for the women's field hockey program. The Penn State Field Hockey Complex, which is located adjacent to Bigler Field, replaced Bigler as the home of Field Hockey and became the team's fifth different home since the program's inception in 1964. Bigler was home to the Penn State Field Hockey Complex for nine seasons from 1996-2004.

The Penn State Field Hockey Complex became just one of the latest new additions to Penn State's ever-growing "athletic campus" on the Northeast end of campus. The pitch, which is used exclusively for field hockey, features new turf and a state-of-the-art watering system that allows the field to easily be watered before games and during halftime of games. Two sets of seating areas on one side of the field have room to seat up to 750 spectators, 250 more than Bigler. The field also has permanent lights that allow for night games to be played.

The field has proven to be quite friendly for the homestanding Nittany Lions. Penn State went a perfect 10-0 at the Penn State Field Hockey Complex in its first year in 2005 and after the 2006 season. Furthermore, it has also proven to a be a fan-friendly experience; Penn State finished fifth in the country in home attendance in 2006, the first season that the NCAA began tracking attendance numbers for field hockey.
